Our Practice

We are a full-service animal hospital providing comprehensive pet healthcare services in Prineville, OR. Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suites, dental suites, and a pharmacy. We are committed to providing quality care at every stage of your pet's life. From routine preventive care to early detection and treatment of a wide range of conditions and diseases, we have the expertise to provide the highest standard of care for your pet. We also serve Powell Butte.

  • Dr. Scott Davis

    DVM

    After graduating from Crook County High School in 1981, Dr. Scott L. Davis attended Eastern Oregon University and subsequently Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Graduating in 1990. Dr. Davis practiced in Montana for 7 years before returning home to Oregon in 1997. After establishing a large animal mobile practice: He purchased Ochoco Small Animal Clinic from Dr. Gene Nance in July of 1999. The practice then became a mixed animal practice serving both large and small animals, so the name was changed to Hometown Animal Hospital. Subsequently, Dr. Davis started a cattle herd health and ranch consulting business under the name of Cattlyst PC.

    Currently, his focus is cattle herd health and small animal orthopedic surgery. In his off time, Dr Davis enjoys bird hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, riding horses, roping, and spending time with his family.

  • Dr. Dylan Dean

    DVM

    Dr. Dylan Dean was born and raised here in Powell Butte, Oregon. He Grew his love for animals growing up immersed in cows, horses, and plenty of dogs. He received his bachelors degree in animal science from Oregon State University and continued there for veterinary school graduating in 2021.

    Dr. Dean’s special interests within the field of veterinary medicine are equine lameness, ruminant herd health and medicine, as well as small animal surgery. In his free time, you will find him doing anything outdoors from hunting, fishing and shed hunting to team roping and being on a horse wherever possible. Dr. Dean has two dogs, a border collie Quincy, and a miniature dachshund Jimmy Dean.

  • Dr. Kate Peplin

    DVM

    Dr. Kate Peplin was raised in Silverton, Oregon. After marrying a Redmond local, her family made the move to Central Oregon. She grew up in 4H and FFA with plenty of large animal experience, but fell in love with small animal medicine after years spent working in shelter medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Oregon State University and attended OSU’s Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2023.

    Dr. Peplin’s special interests within the field of veterinary medicine are preventative medicine, community outreach and education, feline medicine, and small animal soft tissue surgery. In her free time she loves hiking, kayaking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Dr. Peplin spends most of her off time with her golden retriever, Amber (pictured), and her sweet family cat, Sylvester.

  • Alisha

    Hospital Manager

    In the summer of 2022 we welcomed Alisha as our Practice Manager! She has 27 years of veterinary experience and has been in Central Oregon for the most part since 2000. Her passion is creating an atmosphere that helps promote the human animal bond. She is very happy to be part of the amazing team at HomeTown.

    Alisha lives with her husband, Doran. She has two grown sons, Jayse and Cade, a mouthy Husky/Malamute named Remus, a sassy Husky/Pioneer German Shepherd named Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (Tango Mango for short), a Great Pyrenees Arlo (gentle giant!) and 2 cats- Chuck Taylor and their newest pack member, Nacho Chop. That explains enough right there! They all are lovers of music (live if possible), football (Go Green Bay!), camping, boating, movies of every genre and all living creatures.

    Customer Service Representative

    Heather has been a part of our front-end staff since June 2020. When not at work, she spends her time with her support dogs, Lilly and Essie.

  • Nicki

    Customer Service Representative

    Nicki came to us in the fall of 2020 and has been in customer service for 15 years. She grew up in Banks, a small town like Prineville, and moved to Prineville in 2005.

    Although Jasper is a cat, he thinks he is part dog, chasing the water hose and retrieving things in his mouth. You will find her gardening, canning, camping or hunting.

    Customer Service Representative

    Janet grew up on a farm in Iowa and moved to Oregon in 1980. Before joining the team at HomeTown, she was a Medication Technician on the human side of things.

    She has two sons, Alex and Kayden and enjoys fishing, traveling and boating.

  • Saundra

    Certified Veterinary Technician

    Saundra moved to Central Oregon as a Certified Veterinary Technician in 1994 and has worked in both Small Animal and Large Animal Practices. She took a break for a few years to become a Physical Therapist Assistant, but greatly missed the animal connection. The part she likes the best about working as a CVT is forming a bond with the patients and their owners to make the experience at Hometown a positive one. She loves to see the dogs wagging their tails when they have finished their visit!

    Certified Veterinary Technician

    Tuesday grew up in Bend and has lived in Central Oregon her entire life. She graduated from Crook County High School in 2011 and lived in Prineville for almost 13 years. She attended COCC where she received her Associate’s in Biology in 2014 and later her Veterinary Technician License in the COCC Vet Tech Program of 2016. She has always loved nature and knew she was going to work with animals. She enjoys hiking and foraging with her beloved dog Boo, and spending time at home crafting and cuddling with her kitties Binx, Luna and Casper. She also has many reptiles and other exotic pets.

  • Tonya

    Veterinary Assistant

    Born and raised on a Ranch in Burns, Oregon, Tonya has always had a love for animals. She learned to ride horses at 3 years old and helped her dad with all the cattle work. She went to school at Treasure Valley Community College and received an Associates of Animal Science Degree in Large Animal, as well as a Ranch Animal Technician certificate.

    She enjoys spending time with her Mini Aussie Gus (13) and working with her Border Collie mix Tuff (4) as well as her 2 Quarter horses Dolly (4) and Cowboy (11). She also enjoys spending time watching her husband play pedal steel guitar, fiddle and mandolin in his bands.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Emmalie grew up on a farm and loves all things livestock. She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician Program.

    In her free time, you can find her hiking, hunting or playing with Ryker her Rottweiler and Lexi the Miniature Aussie.

    Veterinary Assistant

    DJ moved to Central Oregon 3 years ago from Florida and has worked in the veterinary field as a technician since 1985. She has worked all ends of the spectrum, from small animal vaccine clinics, spay & neuter programs, client / pet relations, routine surgery, emergency and referral medicine and also equine surgery and medicine.

    In her spare time, DJ enjoys spending time traveling with her significant other, the company of her dogs and riding her horses.
